Apollo kit is close to $400.
Alexi is much cheaper.........around $170 (w installation).
Cheaper if u DIY like our bro here.
Most open pods tend to mess up our airflow sensor over time, eventually choking up the throttle body (i tink thats wat its called) as it just doesn't filter clean enuff.
U must understand that more air=more dirt.
Thats where i prefer the Apexi. Its paper fibre.
Test has also shown its much cleaner among other open pods.
Further more, this is a generation 2 of the original funnel design to maximise flow while retaining the high filtration.
Not saying that the Apexi won't mess up my AF sensor, but i hope it'll last longer thats all. Thats my consideration when getting an open pod.
If i really into high air flow, would have taken something even bigger from K&N that comes complete with bigger piping where the AF sensor is relocated. _________________ Speeding has never killed anyone.

Aah... that's sounds easy on the pocket.. I sit at Maxwell too ?
The subjective question is.. is the Apollo Kit ~$400 gives much more power than this ~$170 Apexi?
My AG manual is a mere 1.4l only.. thus weighted more towards performance... _________________ ... there's no turning back once you saddle it ... and moving forward with the painter... |

Dun tink you'll get alot of diff in power (if there is any diff at all) if u compare between the open pods. Here we are just comparing the pods.
If you want more power fr your open pod, then that will require you to change your piping from the pod all the way down to the intake manifold which will require you to shift your AF sensor. Thats usually customed. All these will be at the expense of your low end torque.
Most open pods r not expensive. ITs just the pod, and simple piping "adaptors" thats all. Its the "enclosed" ones that will cost more (simota carbon charger, apollo kit). How much more power, no one knows yet (unless boss n myself pay to go for dyno test, then can compare). |

Yeah.... good idea...
maybe both V_V and hatch "donate" their pods to my AG... then I go dyno and choose the better pods...
Well.. if the performance gain is not that much... at least will get some kick from the sound... I might as well just choose one of it.... |

I can constantly feel the immediate response for my pick up after fixing ADM air-charger for my Astra G. There're (ADM charger, E-RAM,..etc available in the market). I think this works for manual cars only.
To enhance on my cool air- intake, I did a ducting job which connects to my simota air filter from outside, drawing cool air and channel to the air-charger and to the throttle body. |
